Carter, James Thomas

(born: 1921  -  died: 1963) James Carter served during World War II as a private in the 385th Engineering Battalion of the U.S. Army and is found on a list of soldiers from that war compiled by Mr. Wyatt Shely, Anderson County historian.

The U.S. Army's 385th Engineering Battalion served in the European theater, participating in the Allied campaigns in North Africa, France, and Germany. It was a general service unit responsible for a variety of critical support operations, including construction and logistics.

Carter was born April 6, 1921 and died November 24, 1963. He is buried at
Woodlawn Hills Cemetery in Anderson County.
