Katherine M. Whaley was born in Maysville, KY, the daughter of Kattie Myall and Walter Whaley. The family is enumerated in the 1930 U.S. Census. Katherine enlisted in the Army in 1943, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. She served during World War II and the Korean War.
Katherine married Samuel Husbands on January 2, 1946; they lived in New York. Katherine Whaley Husbands died in Calverton, NY, in 2021 and is buried in the Calverton National Cemetery.
