Anna Louise Rucker was born in Louisville, KY, the daughter of James M. and Emma L. Brown Rucker. The family is enumerated in the 1930 and 1940 U.S. Censuses. In 1940, there were three generations in the home: Anna Rucker and her brother, James "Jim Dandy" Rucker; their mother Emma Rucker, who was the head of household; and their grandmother Anna Brown. Anna Rucker was employed doing general housework.
She enlisted in the Army in December 1942, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. She was ordered to active duty on March 3, 1943 at the WAAC Training Center in Fort Des Moines, IA.
Anna L. Rucker Altherton Anderson died in Brooklyn, NY and is buried in the Louisville Cemetery.

*Anna Louise Rucker Altherton Anderson should not be confused with Ann L. Rucker Anderson (1907-1977) from Atlanta, GA, the wife of KY House Member Charles W. Anderson, Jr. and a librarian at Kentucky State University in Frankfort from 1934-1941.
