Gloucester C. Coxe was an artist who resided in Louisville, KY from 1924 until his death in 1999. He was a native of Carlisle, PA. His parents, Philip J. A. Coxe and Ama D. Caliman Coxe, were accomplished watercolorists.

Gloucester was a display artist for the Lyric and Grand (Colored) Theaters and an illustrator at the Fort Knox Training Aid Center, from which he retired after 20 years. He studied art at the University of Louisville and was the first African American to graduate with a fine arts degree. Gloucester continued to paint and produced a series of creative works, including the Ebony, Gemini, and Mandela series.
