Dowery, Robert L., Sr.

(born: 1893  -  died: 1952) 

Dowery, born in Shelbyville, KY, served as a teacher and principal at Negro schools in Shelbyville, Franklin, Taylor County, Campbellsville, and Elizabethtown (all in Kentucky).

Dowery was president and organizer of the 4th District Teachers Association. He enlisted in the Army during World War I and conducted night school at Camp Zachary in Taylor, KY.

Robert L. Dowery was the son Mary Dowery. He is buried at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery.
