Russell, George A.

(born: c. 1894) George A. Russell was born about 1894 in Nelson County, Kentucky. He served during World War I as a corporal in Company F of the 814th Pioneer Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army. He was inducted into the service at Lawrenceburg August 22, 1918 and moved overseas in October 1918.

After the Armistice in November, the 814th returned home in December and was demobilized. Russell was officially discharged at Camp Zachary Taylor July 26, 1919.

A copy of his discharge is on file at the Anderson County Courthouse and he is found on a list of soldiers from that war compiled by Mr. Wyatt  Shely, Anderson County historian.
