Roach, Matthew

(born: c. 1896) Matthew Roach is listed on the 1910 Federal census of Anderson County as a 14-year old living with the Mrs. Elsie Dawson family in the Bond's Mill Road community of the county.

Roach served during World War I as a private in Company D of the 317th Labor Battalion in the U.S. Army. He enlisted April 29, 1918 and was discharged August 13, 1919. The Battalion spent time in France.

A copy of his discharge is on file at the Anderson County Courthouse in Lawrenceburg, and he is included on a list of soldiers from that war compiled by Mr. Wyatt  Shely, Anderson County historian.
