Rennick, Squire
(born: c. 1838)Squire Rennick was born a slave about 1838 in Anderson County, but by the time of the Civil War he was living in Lafayette County, Missouri as a slave of Strother Rennick.
During the war he left for Kansas to gain his freedom and to serve as a soldier in the Union Army. He enlisted February 12, 1864 and was mustered into service on February 23 as a private in Company B of the 18th U.S. Colored Infantry Regiment at Wyandotte County, Kansas. At the time of his enlistment, Rennick gave oath that he was born about 1838 in Anderson County, KY.
Rennick fought at the Battle of Nashville, Tennessee on December 15-16, 1864. He served at some point as a company musician and had his pay deducted for a "lost fife." He was mustered out of service February 21, 1866 at Huntsville, Alabama.
