Jordan, Bedford

(died: died 6 March 1923 at age 56) Jordan was married in Anderson County in  1861 to Martha Jordan. He was a private in Company E of the 122nd U.S. Colored Infantry Regiment USA, organized in Louisville on December 31, 1864.

The 122nd was ordered to Virginia on January 12, 1865 and attached to the 25th Corps, Army of the James till June, 1865. Its duties included the defense of Portsmouth, Virginia until February, 1865; siege operations against Petersburg and Richmond from February to April, 1865; the fall of Petersburg and Richmond on April 2nd and 3rd, and duties in the Department of Virginia until June, 1865.

The 25th Corps then moved to the Department of Texas, first in Brazos Santiago (June and July 1865), then Brownsville and various points on the Rio Grande until February 1866.

The unit was mustered out February 8, 1866.

Jordan is listed on the 1880 Anderson County Census as a 53-year old man.
