Harris, Robert
(born: 1891 - died: 1984)Harris was born in May 31, 1891 in Anderson County and is found on the 1900 Anderson County Census as the son of Burle & Fannie Harris.
He served during World War I as a PFC in Company C of the 317th Service Battalion, part of the Quartermaster Corps of the U.S. Army. He was inducted into the service at Lawrenceburg on April 30, 1918. Harris was described as a 26-year old single man with black hair and eyes and a black complexion, five feet and five inches tall.
He was part of the American Expeditionary Forces that embarked June 20, 1918 and returned to the U.S. June 25, 1919. He was then discharged at Camp Zachary Taylor on July 2, 1919. A copy of his discharge is on file at the Anderson County Courthouse in Lawrenceburg, and he is found on a list of soldiers from that World War I compiled by Mr. Wyatt Shely, Anderson County historian.
Robert Harris died in Frankfort, KY May 18, 1984 and is buried at Woodlawn Hills Cemetery.
