Driscoll, Harry W.

(born: c. 1898  -  died: 1928) Driscoll was born about 1898 in Kentucky. He is listed on the 1910 Anderson County census as a 12-year old boy living with Martha, his widowed mother, and working as a porter at a local resturant.

He served during World War I as a private first Classin the HQ Company, 350th Field Artillery Regiment, assigned to the 167th Brigade of the 92nd Division of the U.S. Army. (See also this related article.)

He was inducted into the service at Lawrenceburg on April 30, 1918 and joined other African American draftees in the 92nd Division, which was organized October 27, 1917 at Camp Funston, Kansas. In July 1918 the division was deployed overseas to be part in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive; however, it was reported that the Field Artillery was not part of this operation.

After the war, Harry returned to the U.S. and discharged at Camp Zachary Taylor on March 26, 1919; a copy of his discharge is on file at the Anderson County Courthouse in  Lawrenceburg.

He died May 3, 1928 and is buried at Woodlawn Hills Cemetery in Anderson County.
