Carter, Samuel

Samuel Carter served as a corporal in the HQ Company of the 169th Field Artillery Brigade, originally designated as Company B, 157th Infantry, of the U.S. Army. (The unit later became part of the 157th Infantry Regiment.)

Carter is found on a list of soldiers from World War I compiled by Mr. Wyatt  Shely, Anderson County historian.

Carter enlisted April 13, 1918 and was discharged July 10, 1919. A copy of his discharge is on file at the Anderson County Courthouse in Lawrenceburg. He was the brother of John Ray (369th Infantry Regiment) and Ira (801st Pioneer Infantry), who both served in World War I as well.
