Hughes, Roy William
(born: May 18, 1898 - died: November 20, 1964)Rev. Roy W. Hughes and Rev. James Dunlap are credited with establishing the first African American Boy Scout Troop in Logan County, KY, in the 1960s. The home of Rev. Hughes was the Kimbrough House, the oldest brick house that was still standing in Russellville, KY, in 2005. Rev. Hughes was pastor at the Little Zion Baptist Church. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of the Fred Douglass Lodge No.28 F & AM, and Knights of Pythias No.65. Rev. Roy William Hughes died in 1964 and he is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Russellville, KY. He was born in Auburn, KY, the son of William and Nellie Hughes.
Rev. James Dunlap was pastor at the Bank Street AME Zion Church.
