That same year, she was married and enlisted in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in Cincinnati, OH as Marie G. Sanders, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. After her military service, she returned to Kentucky. She married Zack Woodard. In 1951, the family lived in Frankfort, KY. Marie would become employed as a typist at the Kentucky Department of Transportation. Marie Bell Gurton Sanders Woodard died in Frankfort, KY. She is buried in the Sunset Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Frankfort, KY.
