In 1943, Juanita Buchanan enlisted in the Army. She was married by 1944 and her name was Juanita Buchanan Maddox. After her military service, Juanita Buchanan returned to Kentucky. She had married again by 1950 and her name was Juanita Buchanan Patterson. She died in Columbia, KY, in 1981 and is buried in Flatwoods Community Cemetery.
