"A compilation of Puckett's research notes on unusual American names, the material consists of four lists: Negro female names (32 pages), Negro male names 21 pages originally, one page lacking), white female names (16 pages), and white male names (11 pages). Puckett's unpublished research notes on names were a gift to the Cleveland Public Library, and were posthumously compiled and published in 1975 in the book Black names in America: origins and usage; collected by Newbell Niles Puckett. Edited by Murray Heller."
