Colored Department and Among the Colored Citizens (Frankfort Newspaper)

As early as February 17, 1883, The Frankfort Roundabout newspaper had a column titled "Colored Department" on p.4. "Under this head we will publish weekly items of interest to our colored citizens." The column was printed until March 3, 1883, then fell to the wayside

A new column was printed on December 11, 1886 and was titled "Among the Colored People," then changed to "Among the Colored Citizens" by G. H. B. on January 8, 1887. The column was initially located on the front page, but was later moved to the latter pages. The content included news of visitors and vacations, church news, deaths, entertainment, and graduations.

The "Among the Colored Citizens" column continued to be printed until May28, 1892 in The Frankfort Roundabaout. The title is also available on microfilm at the University of Kentucky Libraries Periodicals Desk.
