(born: 1944)

Born in Glasgow, KY, Wells played high school basketball at Ralph Bunche High School there. He was recruited along with teammate Charles Hunter to play college ball at Oklahoma City University, where Wells was an All-American. His scoring ability helped take the team to the NCAA Tournament four consecutive years. Wells and Hunter were the first two African American basketball players at the school.

Wells was selected by the Cincinnati Royals in the second round of the 1966 NBA draft, but his season was cut short when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Wells was inducted into the Oklahoma City University Hall of Fame.
