Jackson, John J., Jr.

(born: 1923  -  died: 2004) John J. Jackson, Jr. was the first African American licensed to practice as an optometrist in Louisville, KY, in 1954. He was a graduate of the Chicago College of Optometry. Born in Harlan, KY, he was the son of John Sr. and Dusker Jackson. In 1930 the family of five lived on Clover Street in Harlan, KY, according to the U.S. Federal Census.
