Former Executive Director at the New York Public Library, Schomburg Center For Research in Black Culture. He is the Ford Foundation Professor of History, Race and Public Policy at Harvard University Kennedy School and the Suzanne Young Murray Professor at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
