Edgerton, Walter "Kentucky Rosebud"

(born: 1853  -  died: 1923) 

Walter Edgerton, was NOT from Kentucky, but rather was born in Norfolk, VA, and boxed out of Philadelphia. His birth year is also given as 1868. He was a featherweight and lightweight boxer who weighed between 115-128 lbs. and stood 5 ft. 4 in. Edgerton started boxing around 1882 and ended his career in 1916. [Covington, KY, native Howie Camnitz, a white baseball player, also had the nickname "Kentucky Rosebud."
