Boswell, Arnita Y.
(born: 1920 - died: 2002)Arnita Young Boswell was born in Lincoln Ridge, KY. A graduate of Kentucky State College [now Kentucky State University] and Atlanta University [now Clark Atlanta University], she earned her advanced social work certification at Columbia University and advanced education certification at Colorado State University.
Boswell was a professor of social work at the University of Chicago (1961-1980) and Director of the Family Resources Center at the Robert Taylor Homes in Chicago. She was also the first national director for Project Head Start, the first director of the social workers of the Chicago Public Schools, and founder of Chicago's League of Black Women. The Boswell Park in Chicago is named in her honor.
Arnita Young Boswell was the daughter of Whitney Young, Sr. and Laura R. Young.
