Greene, Harold S., Jr.

Harold S. Greene, Jr. was the first African American to be appointed to serve as Administrative Assistant to a governor. In 1980, he was appointed by Governor John Y. Brown to oversee equal opportunity employment.

Greene is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky. He was a criminal justice faculty member at Kentucky State University. In the community, he was a former leader of the Lexington Urban League and the Lexington NAACP Chapter. In 1982, Harold S. Greene, Jr. was awarded the Dr. S. T. Roach Professional Award.
