Childress, William Haydon, Jr.
(born: April 6, 1911 - died: May 3, 1993)Born in Washington D.C., William H. Childress, Jr. grew up in Nashville, TN. He was a 1934 graduate of Fisk University and came to Kentucky at the invitation of his cousin, Dr. Franklin Belver Beck, a dentist in Louisville. Childress remained in Louisville and in 1960 was elected Representative of the 42nd Legislative District, serving one term. He is known for introducing House Bill no. 163, which created the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights.
William H. Childress, Jr. was the son of Lillian Hayden Childress Hall and William Hobbs Childress, Sr. and the husband of Joanna Kimble Offutt Childress.
