Miller, Hallie Gates
(born: 1945)Hallie Gates Miller and another female officer filed sex discrimination charges against the Nicholasville (KY) Police Department in 1974. Both women had received training from the Eastern Kentucky University law enforcement program, but their employment applications were denied and a male masseur was hired instead. Miller was awarded $468 in compensation and then hired as Wilmore's first African American woman police officer.
