Hardin, John A.

(born: 1948) 

John A. Hardin was an Assistant to the Provost for Diversity Enhancement at Western Kentucky University (WKU), where he also served in several other capacities, including associate professor of history. He is author of numerous articles and has published  books, including Fifty years of Segregation: Black Higher Education in Kentucky, 1904-1954Onward and Upward: a Centennial History of Kentucky State University, 1886-1986, and The Pursuit of Excellence: Kentucky State University, 1886-2020.

His primary research interests are 20th Century African American history, Kentucky history, and the history of higher education.

Since July 1, 2018, he is Professor Emeritus of History, Western Kentucky University. He has also served on the Kentucky African American Heritage Commission.
