Emma L. Garvin was married when she joined the Army in Indianapolis, IN, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. She had been a kitchen worker.
Emma Louise Langley was born in Henderson, KY, the daughter of Harry S. and Emma Louise Guynn Langley. The family is enumerated in the 1930 U.S. Census when they were living in Henderson. When they were enumerated in the 1940 U.S. Census, the family had moved to Terre Haute, IN. Emma's father was a fireman in an iron foundry.
Emma L. Langley Garvin divorced her husband and took back her maiden name. After her military service, she lived in Indianapolis, IN, where she was employed as an accounting clerk at the U.S. Army Finance and Accounting Center.
Emma Louise Langley died in Indianapolis and is buried in the Highland Lawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
