Alberta Williams was born in Corona, AL and grew up in Hazard, KY. She was the daughter of Luberta Johnson and Luke Williams. Her mother was a widow when the family was enumerated in the 1930 U.S. Census. The family had come from Alabama to Hazard;  Alberta's brother Brown Williams was head of the household, employed as a porter at the general store in Hazard.

In 1942, Alberta Williams was living in Hazard when she enlisted in the Army in Cincinnati, OH, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. She left for active service in February 1943, heading to the First WAC Training Center in Fort Des Moines, IA. After her military service, Alberta Williams married Floyd Turley, Sr. from West Bend, KY. The couple lived in Toledo, OH, where Alberta Turley was a city government employee. She had returned to Kentucky and was living in Clay City, KY when she died in 1996. Alberta Williams Turley is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in West Bend. 

*Alberta Williams Turley was the mother of Dr. Alicestyne Turley.
