Sallie Mae Bowman was born in Sadieville, KY, the daughter of Carrie Cutwright and William Bowman. The family is enumerated in the 1920 and 1930 U.S. Censuses. In the 1940 U.S. Census, Sallie M. Bowman was living with her cousin Harrison Hurley and his wife Elizabeth. She enlisted in the Army in 1943 in Cincinnati, OH, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. Sallie Mae Bowman died in Georgetown, KY and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery.  

*This particular Sallie Mae Bowman was NOT the wife of Llewellyn Smith Bowman, as stated at Find A Grave.
