Lucy F. Mace was born in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Mamie K. Prince and Robert Mace. The family is enumerated in the 1920, 1930, and 1940 U.S. Censuses. Lucy Mace was employed as a maid in 1940. She enlisted in the Army in Cincinnati, OH in 1942, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases.

After her military service, she lived in Washington, D.C. with her husband Luther D. Campbell; she worked as a nurse. Lucy Florence Mace Campbell died in Arlington, VA and is buried in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Hillcrest Heights, MD.
