Christine V. Snow was born in Alabama and lived in Jackson County, KY when she enlisted in the Army in Cincinnati, OH, according to her record in the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. She was the daughter of Otha and Bessie Bryant Snow. In the 1920 U.S. Census, the Snow family lived in Bessie Mining Camp, AL. They were in Harlan County, KY when the family was enumerated in the 1930 U.S. Census.

In the 1940 U.S. Census, Otha Snow was listed as a widower employed as a coal miner in Lynch, KY. Four of his children, including Christine, lived with him on Second Street. Four years later, Christine enlisted in the Army.
