Mattie L. Sproul was living in Barren County, KY when she enlisted in the Army in Cincinnati, OH, according to her record in Ancestry. She was born in Cumberland County, KY, the daughter of James and Ida Newby Sproul. The family is enumerated in the 1920 U.S. Census when they were living in Cale Camp, KY. James Sproul supported his family as a farmer. Mattie died in 2015 and is buried in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Cumberland County.
