Emma L. Lutz was married and living in Cincinnati, OH when she enlisted in the Army, according to her enlistment record in Ancestry and the National Archives, Access to Archival Databases. She was born in Kentucky. In 1946, Emma and artist John C. Lutz divorced. The couple had been married since at least 1940 when they were enumerated in the U.S. Census when Emma was employed as a maid for a private family. They were also listed on p. 1084 in William's Cincinnati Directory, 1938
