In 1914 the Kentucky Conference Branch was a separate body of the AME Annual Conference and held its first convention in Bethel AME Church in Nicholasville, KY. The prior year, the separation had taken place in St. Matthews Church in Midway, KY during the annual conference. The Kentucky Conference Branch was a women's missionary organization that existed prior to 1897. One of the sub-units was a women's group that was named the WMMS in 1897, the group's task was to collect money that was brought to the Annual Conference by the women's pastors and distributed to AME member-preachers of lesser means. Mrs. Leanna Snowden and Mrs. E. Belle Jackson were two of the women who served as presidents of the Kentucky Conference Branch before the separation in 1914, and Mrs. Snowden was president the year of the separation.
