Hospitals and Nurse Training Schools for Negroes in KY, 1921-22
The names of the hospitals and nurse training schools for Negroes in Kentucky are listed on p. 371 of the 1921-22 Negro Year Book [available at Google Books]. Three facilities were listed in the 1916 Negro Year Book [also available at Google Books]; that number had increased to six by 1921.- Anderson Sanitarium in Somerset, KY, a tuberculosis treatment clinic owned by James S. Anderson, a doctor of herbal medicine. The three-story structure was referred to as Unity Hill Sanitarium. For more see the NKAA entry for James S. Anderson.
- King's Daughters Hospital in Shelbyville, KY.
