Hicks, Madeline Maupin

(born: 1948) Madeline Maupin Hicks was the first African American female to attend the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, from which she graduated with a DMD in 1975. She was the only African Ameican student and one of three women students. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Indiana University in 1970.

In 2004, Dr. Hicks became a part-time faculty member, teaching  dentistry courses at the University of Louisville Dentistry School. She has also had a private dental practice.

Dr. Madeline Maupin Hicks is the daughter of Madeline Taylor Maupin and Milburn T. Maupin.
