Colored Column (Winchester, KY, Newspaper)

The Winchester News began publishing in 1908, the same year that the newspaper included the "Colored Column." The column initially consisted of one paragraph but soon grew in length to  include news about African Americans in Winchester as well as those in other Kentucky cities and around the country.

The newspaper was sold in 1912 and the name was changed to Winchester Sun. Full text of the "Colored Column" is available in the Winchester News for the years 1908-1912 in the Kentucky Digital Newspaper Program and Chronicling America.
