Wilson, William Hansford, Sr.
(born: 1878 - died: 1953)William Hansford Wilson, Sr. was born November 9, 1878 or 1879, in Murray, KY, [sources: Wilson's World War II Draft Registration Card and the Indiana Marriage Index in Ancestry]. He was a school teacher, pharmacist, and physician. Wilson was the son of Lina Beauraguard. His first wife, Ora E. Johnson, died in 1914. His second wife was Urena Mae Morton, the mother of William Hansford Wilson, Jr. [sources: Kentucky Birth Index, 1918; and 1917 Kentucky Death Certificate for stillborn child, File No.10949]. The family was living in Henderson, KY when they had their first son who was stillborn. The family lived in Madisonville, KY, where Dr. Wilson practiced medicine and where his second son, William Hansford Wilson, Jr., was born in 1918.
William Hansford Wilson, Sr. graduated from State Normal School in Frankfort, KY; was a 1903 graduate of Berea College; and received his M.D. from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in 1910.
In 1940, Wilson was practicing medicine in Danville, IL [source: 1940 U.S. Census]. He lived with his wife, Beatrice Odell Green Wilson, and son William, Jr. at 811 Seminary Street. Wilson and his wife, a graduate of Chicago University, were married in 1933 when he was an instructor in the School of Medicine at Howard University [source: The Southern Workman, 1933, vol. 62, p. 47]. He also had taught public school in Kentucky for 12 years and was a pharmacist at Lakeside Hospital in Chicago before moving back to Kentucky to practice medicine, first in Clayton, then in Henderson.
