Slave Jail (Woodford County, KY)

A 1938 Lexington, KY, newspaper article mentions an old slave jail once owned by a slave-trader named Offutt in Woodford County, KY. The property where the jail was located, on a farm near the Versailles-Midway highway, was later owned by Sheriff William B. Cogar. The building had been two stories high and had barred windows. Sheriff Cogar removed the top half of the building as well as the bars.
