Taylor, Jesse B., Sr.
(born: 1918 - died: 1991)Jesse B. Taylor, born in Louisville, KY, was the first African American homicide detective in the South. Taylor had joined the Louisville Police Division in 1944, serving for 30 years. He was on the special detail that investigated the death of Alberta Jones.
Taylor attended Lincoln Institute. He was the son of Jesse Sr. and Hattie Taylor, according to the 1920 U.S. Census when the family lived on Chestnut Street in Louisville, KY.
