Edgerton, Walter "Kentucky Rosebud"

(born: 1853  -  died: 1923) 

Walter Edgerton, was NOT from Kentucky; he was born in Norfolk, VA, and boxed out of Philadelphia, PA. His birth year is given as 1868.

Edgerton was a featherweight and lightweight boxer who weighed between 115-128 lbs. and stood 5 ft. 4 in. He started boxing around 1882, ending his career in 1916.

Covington, KY, native Howie Camnitz, a white baseball player, also had the nickname "Kentucky Rosebud." The name has been used by several other sport and entertainment figures.
