Pleasant, Mae Barbee Boone
(born: 1919 - died: 2015)Mae Barbee Boone Pleasant, born in Adairville, KY, was the daughter of Minnie Burks and Zelma Barbee. She was raised in Springfield, OH.
Pleasant was the author of Hampton University: Our Home By the Sea, a history of the school. She was an administrative assistant to five presidents of Hampton University. She was also very socially active on campus and within the Hampton community.
Pleasant received a number of awards, including twice being named "Woman of the Year" when the school was known as Hampton Institute and receiving the Humanitarian Award given by the Peninsula Chapter of the Virginia Conference for Community and Justice in 2007.
Pleasant was a graduate of Tennessee State University and Hampton University and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Mae Barbee Boone Pleasant died in Irvine, CA on April 14, 2015.
