Negro Jury in Louisville, KY

In 1872, a Negro jury was summoned in Louisville, KY, by the coroner to hear the case involving the stabbing death of John Wagner, who died May 29, 1872 at the Marine Hospital in Louisville. William Reynolds was found guilty of stabbing Wagner on the steamer Robert Burns in May of 1872.

Both men were African American.The jury is thought to be the first Negro jury in Kentucky.
