Spencer, Felton L.
(born: January 5, 1968 - died: March 12, 2023)Felton L. Spencer was born in Louisville, KY where the 7'1" center played high school ball at Louisville Eastern; during his junior and senior years, he led the school to its first state tournaments in 25 years, averaging 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots and rated one of the top 25 players in the nation.
Spencer played college ball at the University of Louisville, the tallest player ever to play for the school and the all-time field goal percentage leader.
He was the 6th pick in the first round of the 1990 NBA Draft, going to the Minnesota Timbewolves for three seasons before being traded to the Utah Jazz. Spencer played for a few other teams during his 12-year career in the NBA; he retired in 2002 after playing in 640 games, scoring over 3,000 points, and blocking over 500 shots.
In 2011, he was an assistant basketball coach at Spalding University in Louisville. In 2016, he became an assistant basketball coach at Bellarmine University in Louisville.
Felton L. Spencer died on March 12, 2023.
