Edwards, Sallie Nuby
(born: 1910)Born in Beaumont, KY, social worker Sallie N. Edwards participated in the March on Washington Movement of 1941 and the American Council on Human Rights.
Edwards was educated at Ohio State University, St. Louis University, and Fisk University; she taught at Stowe Teachers College in St. Louis, MO (now Harris-Stowe State University).
Edwards wrote articles that appeared in Southwestern Christian Advocate and other magazines. She was the associate executive director of the San Francisco YWCA and executive secretary of the St. Louis County YWCA [source: "Nothern Leader," Los Angeles Tribune, 1/3/1958, p. 11]. In 1950, she was president of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorrority [source: Cogressional Record: Proceedings and Debates of the 82nd Congress, First Session, vol. 97, part 2, March 2, p. 1802, online at Google Books].
