Neal, Gerald Anthony
(born: September 22, 1945)Gerald A. Neal, elected to represent Senate District 33 (Jefferson County, KY), is the first African American man elected to the Kentucky Senate. He was first elected in 1990 and has since been consecutively re-elected. Other than Senator Georgia Powers, Neal has served longer than any other African American member of the Kentucky General Assembly.
Neal earned his undergraduate degree from Kentucky State College [now Kentucky State University] and his JD from the University of Michigan, then attended graduate school at the University of Michigan.
Gerald Neal is the son of Mildred and Sterling Neal.
