Ayers, Rhoda Mae Reynolds "Rhonnie"

(born: July 26, 1931  -  died: February 21, 1984) 

Rhoda M. Reyolds Ayers was born in Rock Island, IL; she moved to Newport, KY in 1972. In 1976, she became the first African American member of the Newport  Independent Board of Education. During that year, she was also one of two African American women on a local school board in Kentucky. She also served on the Newport Recreation Commission and the Community Action Commission advisory board. Ayers was employed by the U.S. Postal Service Annex in Cincinnati, OH.
