Albert Aloysius Casey, Sr. was born in Louisville, KY, an orphan who was later adopted. He became a guitarist when a teen, then left Louisville for New York. He played with the bands of Fats Waller, Teddy Wilson, and others. He also played for Billie Holiday. Among his recordings are Jumpin' With Al, Jivin' Around, and Buck Jumpin'; he eventually participated in more than 200 recordings. For more see One Thousand Great Guitarists, by H.
