Her name is given as Marie Spratt Brown on the cover of The K.N.E.A. Journal, vol. 6, issue 2. Brown was a Louisville, KY, schoolteacher who in 1898 became the first woman president of the Kentucky Negro Educational Association. The next and last woman president, Lucy H.
