Lewis, George Garrett

Death Year : 1880
In 1880, Lewis won the Kentucky Derby riding Fonso. The industry's first foul was claimed after the race. Lewis died a few weeks later at his home in Hutchison Station, KY; he had been injured in an accident that occurred while he was racing in St. Louis, Missouri. George Garrett Lewis was the brother of jockey Oliver Lewis.
